On Friday July 23, Eye of the Tiger Management will be back at the Holiday Inn in Cuernavaca, Mexico with a boxing gala presented with the incomparable Commando formula live on Punching Grace. The event will feature one of the most feared heavyweights on the planet today, Arslanbek "The Lion" Makhmudov (11-0-0, 11 KOs). The tough Russian boxer will finally return to action as he takes on tough Czech boxer Pavel Sour (13-4-0, 8 KOs).
“It is essential for us to have Arslanbek box as often as possible in order to position him for a world championship fight. He has everything it takes to be a heavyweight champion and that's why he's so shunned by the tops in his class. Sour is a boxer who has faced some very big names and who will give Makhmudov a good point of comparison. This is a very important fight that Arslanbek must win on the road to continue his ascent. My goal is to get him to box to gain experience, big name or not, we have a plan to bring him to the world championship," said Eye of the Tiger Management president Camille Estephan.
Makhmudov was to be part of the card presented on July 16 in Shawinigan, but it was difficult for EOTTM to find him international training partners. Considering this factor, it was best for him to go and execute his training camp outside the country with his trainer, Marc Ramsay. Arslanbek Makhmudov will finally return to the arena as he faces tough Czech Pavel Sour. After a period of inactivity of more than ten months, "The Lion" will continue his way to the top of boxing’s king division in a duel scheduled for 10 rounds. To do so, he will have to dominate Sour who is a 6'5½ giant who has faced several famous boxers including Hughie Fury, Jermain Franklin and Nathan Gorman. Possessing excellent striking power and a dangerous jab, the former Czech national belt holder in the super heavyweight represents a good challenge for the terrifying protege of Camille Estephan.
“Of course, we would have liked to bring Arslanbek to the fans in Quebec, but it’s only a postponed event. We had to keep him active and the fight on July 23 is perfect in the sense and people will still be able to see him live on Punching Grace," said coach Marc Ramsay.
The undercard presented live on Punching Grace will consist of three other fights featuring boxers highly coveted by several promoters across the planet. Mehmet Nadir Unal (pro debut) is one of those boxers. Originally from Turkey 28 years old, Mehmet has been extremely successful among amateurs in addition to having participated in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil in 2016. He is a boxer with excellent punching power as well as all the skills needed to rise to the top of the light-heavyweight division in the near future. Some identify him as being the successor of none other than Artur Beterbiev. Marc Ramsay's new colt intends to wow boxing fans on July 23, when he will fight his first 4-round fight under the aegis of EOTTM.
“Mehmet Unal is a boxer we've been negotiating with for quite some time and I'm confident that one day we'll accomplish great things together. He has a style that will appeal to Quebec fans for years to come,” adds excellent coach Marc Ramsay.
In addition, Eye of the Tiger Management and D&D Boxing recently contracted a talented duo of young fighters from Pennsylvania. Indeed, they obtained the signature of the brothers Angel and Antonio Perez. The Perez twins both fought at the US Nationals in Louisiana and are known to be very tough hitters with exemplary technique. Angel will fight in the welterweight division while Antonio will box in the lightweights. During the July 23 card, Angel Perez (1-0-0, 1 KO) will be in his second fight in the professional ranks, he who won his first duel last month with the help of a brutal a K.-O. recorded in the first round against Meshach Mays. This time he will face a more experienced opponent in Alvaro Figueroa Cervantes (1-4-0) in a duel scheduled for 4 rounds at 147 lbs. For his part, Antonio Perez (professional debut) will try to follow in the footsteps of his twin brother as he faces Luis Ernesto Granados (3-8-1, 2 KOs) in a fight of 4 rounds at 147 lbs.
“We are excited to sign the Perez twins,” Estephan said. “Cameron recommended them to us and we are more than happy to have them on our team co-promoted with D&D Boxing. We believe they have tremendous potential that could take them to their division's world title. We are therefore extremely delighted to start working with them,” he added.
