Raised in Shu, a small town of 36,000 people located in south Kazakhstan, Batyr Jukembayev was introduced to boxing at 7 years of age by his older brother Erlan. His life was transformed forever as he instantly fell in love with the sport. He became obsessed with boxing, always looking to improve in order to reach his ultimate goal : become world champion.
It is with that in mind that Batyr decided to leave home and his family to go study in a specialized training centre, where he was able to dedicate himself solely to boxing. It was a tough decision to make, and he needed a lot of dedication and determination to withstand the rigorous regimen and the discipline required from him at the centre. Although a great number of his peers were unable to sustain such a high level of pressure and had to quit, Batyr worked even harder and earned his diploma with honours. He won several medals during his academic journey, in competitions held in Kazakhstan but also at the international level.
After coming up with a impressive total of 203 wins in 243 fights in Olympic boxing, Batyr Jukembayev moved up to the major leagues in 2015. He also put the long-term planning of his career in the hands of promoter Eye of the Tiger Management. There are big plans ahead for the young Kazakh, who has impressed boxing fans with his impeccable technique, his precision and his great awareness of the distance he needs to have between him and his opponent.
